The winter season has been good to us so far, but that will surely change in the coming month or so. Now is the time to start planning that March getaway to somewhere warm. Let’s face it – by late February, we are sick of the cold and looking forward to Spring. Plan now to combat those winter doldrums by planning a trip to somewhere warm. You will then have something to ward off those winter blues. Here are some of the sunny cities in the continental US that enjoy some of the warmest temperatures in March, according to USA Today.
Palm Springs, California
Palm Springs is one of the most consistently sunny and warm places in the U.S. It has a desert climate which boasts little rainfall and March temperatures range between mid-70s to mid-80s. With ample sunshine, Palm Springs is a great place for outdoor and recreational activities. These activities may include, golf, hiking, tennis and always a trip to the pool.
Los Angeles, California
March is one of the best times to visit the City of Angels. One of the main reasons is that the smog levels are at this lowest during this time. Average March temperatures are in the high-60s to mid-70s. This time is considered off-season so many hotels will offer special deals. Also, due to the slower season, reservations at trendy restaurants and clubs are more readily available.
Miami, Florida
Miami has quite a reputation as one of the top party towns in the country. March temperatures enjoy daily highs in the mid-80s which translates into warm Atlantic Ocean temps. March is a busy time of year for Spring breakers so costs for hotels and flights might be a little more expensive than other locations.
Phoenix, Arizona
Phoenix has a very desert like climate and is warm year-round. March, however, is not as sweltering as the 100-degree summer months. Average March high temperatures average in the mid-80s. This is another great spot for all outdoor activities such as golf, hiking, and swimming. Twelve different Major League baseball teams have their Spring Training in the Phoenix area if you are a baseball fan.
Albuquerque, New Mexico
In March the Sun Belt city offers high temperatures in the low 60’s but the nights can dip as low as freezing. More than 70 percent of Spring days are sunny in Albuquerque. There is very little humidity which allows outside activities all year. Because it is so dry here, be sure to drink plenty of water to avoid becoming dehydrated.
