We recently read a very thought-provoking blog post about how introverts make the best salespeople. While that sounds counter-intuitive, it makes perfect sense. In order to truly connect with your client it is very important that they feel like you understand their needs and in order to do that, they must believe that you are hearing their concerns.
Introverts are experts at this particular talent. Listening builds trust and relationships. After all, the true test of a great salesperson is repeat business and referrals. This takes time and gives a sense of authenticity. Many business professionals are of the opinion that it’s necessary to have a large, splashy appearance with big social events. Often an in-person meeting can be much more effective.
Three attributes that introverts seem to have in common are:
- Strong listening skills
- Strong powers of observation
- Strong abilities to make a statement without saying a word
I’ve observed that many of our clients, of which many are single owner professionals, have mastered this particular technique with great success. It’s one of those ideas that need repeating from time to time to keep it in practice.
At Summit Executive Suites, we take the time to listen carefully to your needs to find the perfect professional work environment for your business. Many of our clients have been with us for over 20 years and have referred many of their colleagues to us. Please come in for a tour and see the difference for yourself.
