Having a successful office holiday party does take some pre-planning, as you’ll want to make sure the event is enjoyable for all your employees, clients and other invited guests. Here are a few of our ideas to keep it fun, simple and less stressful!
Budget
Office parties can be very expensive, but the costs can be kept in check by using a caterer or having a potluck-style party. Catering can save time, but everyone also loves homemade specialties. Ask employees for food ideas, or, for a potluck, have a sign-up sheet in the kitchen. Depending on how large your office is, stress that not everyone needs to bring a dish. You could have more food than room to set it all up! The sign-up sheet also helps the dishes vary. For catered parties, try using some of the favorited restaurants in the area. At SES we have used the following caterers with delicious results:
– QDoba
– Panera
Planning
Choose a date several weeks before the event, aim for 4 weeks in advance. This will give employees enough time to add it to their calendars and to notify any clients that they would like to invite. Make sure everyone gives you the proper count at least a few days ahead of time so you can order enough supplies.
Theme
Themes can add to the fun and anticipation of the holiday.
A simple and funny theme could be an ugly Christmas sweater party. Whatever theme you choose, make sure it’s appropriate for the office if it will be happening during the workday.
A fun game found on Pinterest is called Facts of Life. Each participant states three facts about themselves. The others must guess the lie. The one with the most lies wins. It’s a great way to get people talking and to know each other better. Prizes are optional, but definitely motivate participation.
Holiday parties are a great opportunity to briefly slow down during the busy end-of-year holiday season. It is time to reflect on the previous year, and enjoy good food in the company of valued colleagues, clients and guests. Come to Summit Executive Suites for a tour and let us show you how we can bring in the holiday season for your new office!
