Louisville Autumn Festivals 2018

Fall is coming sooner than we realize and that means festival time in Louisville! There are always the annual events, but I wanted to showcase some of the newer, lesser known activities in the area that include art, music, food and family activities to enjoy the Fall weather outdoors. Here are just a few in the surrounding Jefferson County area:

FAT Friday Trolley Hop — This Trolley hop happens every last Friday of the month on the Frankfort/Crescent Hill corridor. You can pick up the trolley along Frankfort Ave. and jump off anywhere along the drive. All the local restaurants and stores stay open late to serve appetizers, music and food.

middletown family fun festival
Middletown Family Fun Festival — Sept. 7th 6-9:30 PM and Sat., Sept. 8th 10 AM to 9 PM Middletown’s Family Fun Festival and Craft Show is an all-ages event filled with a variety of entertaining outdoor activities and an amazing craft show. The festival hosts a community parade, carnival rides, a Kids Fun Zone filled with games, live music, clown shows and more. The event also features a highly anticipated pet show, where attendees can show off their dogs’ adorableness and talents for awards ranging from the Best Dress Award to the Cutest Puppy award.

big four arts festival

Big Four Arts Festival — Sept. 8th 10 AM-7 PM and Sept. 9th 10AM-5 PM This is a new arts festival to Louisville and takes place on the historic walking bridge that crosses the Ohio River and the Waterfront Park. It’s a juried show with 160 wonderful artists, many local vendors as well, international cuisine and children’s activities in a beautiful setting. This is a perfect Fall weekend event that is sure to turn into an annual event.

Chautauqua Art Show, Madison, IN — Sept. 29th & 30th, 10 AM-5PM This is a premier annual art show with many of the same artists as St. James Art Show (Oct. 6 & 7) with a much less crowded feel. This year there will be a special “Art in Motion” section at the Lanier Mansion where the artists will be creating live art with chalk during the festival.
